IMPROVING ORAL AND FACIAL GROWTH AND FUNCTION THROUGH OROFACIAL MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPY.

Welcome to Saskatchewan Myofunctional Therapy

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy is like physical therapy for the muscles of your face and mouth. When these muscles develop abnormal patterns over a period of time, it can lead to the development of an Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder (OMDs).
OMDs are disorders in the muscle function of the lips, tongue, and/or jaw that can negatively impact an individual's health and development.
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy is an individualized program of strength and retraining exercises of the tongue and orofacial muscles designed to correct maladaptive oral habits and restore correct oral resting posture.

OMDs are linked to:

  •  Abnormal facial growth and development

  •  Breast feeding difficulties in infants

  •  Digestion issues
  •  Jaw pain

  • Toxic Oral Habits
  • Chronic headaches
  • Chronic tension
  • Teeth Grinding
  • Swallowing difficulties
  • Messy eating
  • Poor posture
  • Snoring
  • Facial Aesthetics

  • Tongue Thrusting
  • Low Tongue Posture
  • Mouth Breathing
  • Incorrect Chewing and Swallowing
  • Tongue and Lip Ties
  • Noxious habits such as nail biting, thumb or finger sucking and lip licking
